so R's parents are giving us their piano before they move to the new house. it may actually at this very moment be on the truck on the way up. i am very excited. i feel like chopin, waiting at valldemosa for his pleyel so that he can compose his preludes. except, my piano is unlikely to be held up by spanish customs officials, i'm not a romantic genius, i don't have tuberculosis, and i am not having a tumultuous affair with a authoress who calls herself George.
other than that, it's exactly the same.
the band had a gig the weekend before last. we played for the runners in the "race for the cure" breast cancer fundraiser thing. we got there really early, set up, and then played the whole time that the runners were passing us (except for a short break when a guy collapsed in front of us and the paramedics had us stop.)
they loved us! it was by far the most appreciative audience i've ever seen. they didn't stay long, but BOY were they happy to see us. and when we did stop, you could feel the energy level all down the mall drop (we were set up near the monument end) and the ones who didn't see why were stopped kept asking "why aren't you playing?" very plaintively. i hope that we get that gig again.
we went to see r's new niece and her family last weekend. she was so tiny and perfect! i want one. also, her nephew just turned two and he was adorable. we went out on the boat and to the beach, where i managed to get a little sun despite the exhortations of R and mama R to put on 30 SPF. 6 is enough for me if I apply reasonably often. the waves were tiny, though. weak.
ok, see? i updated :-)
